Racquel + Jacob

Arches National Park. Black Converse. A flowing gown. A sharp tux. And two people madly in love. Who could ask for anything more?

We are beyond smitten with Racquel and Jacob Sheffield’s elopement at The Arches. The beauty, the intimacy, the quiet, the sweetness, the tenderness, the playfulness, the fun — every image is bursting with emotion.

Racquel put it this way: “On Thursday, May 2, I got to marry my best friend. My soul mate. Seven years ago we were just two high school kids, searching for our place in this world. Luckily, I found you … Learn from each other, laugh with each other, and help each other grow. Most importantly, love yourself and love each other. Create your own fairy tale.”

The end.

Scarlet + Scott

It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the wedding of Scarlet and Scott — straight from our glossy pages. And just FYI — these two are bursting with charm and good taste.

RHAPSODY IN BLUE // 3.4.18

When I first met my husband, I was blown away by his kind eyes. I could tell he was a good guy. We started dating, and he proved that to me over and over again.

One of my favorite dates was when he celebrated my love of tacos on Cinco De Mayo by surprising me with a pinata, sombreros, and tacos, of course.

Scott’s proposal took me completely by surprise. He told me we were going ice skating, so I dressed down and my hair was a mess. When he picked me up, he looked so handsome. After “waiting for some friends” (Editor’s Note: ladies, excessive stalling and phone checking means the proposal is near), we went to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. When we got inside I looked out the window and saw a huge sign that said “Scarlet, Will You Marry Me?” Then I turned around and saw both of our families.

Our families were a big part of our wedding day, too. Scott’s family has a wedding tradition of a surprise skit for the couple. For ours, they dressed up as a Scottish couple (a nod to my resemblance to Merida from the movie “Brave”) and sang a song they wrote about us. It was hilarious! Another special part of our wedding was that Scott’s nephew with special needs was his best man.

Our wedding had touches of blue from my nail polish (I always wear blue nail polish and my wedding wasn’t going to be any different) to Scott’s blue suit and the striking blue layer on our wedding cake by Flour & Flourish. I loved it!

My favorite part of the day was being in the moment. It was a day I had been dreaming of forever and I tried to soak it all in.

Scarlet’s soiree was dripping in breathtaking blooms and gorgeous greenery. Her wedding MVP was her florist, Marianne Seale, of Bushel and A Peck Floral Design. “My flowers were unreal and, without question, my favorite wedding element,” Scarlet says. We also adore her paper suite (that temple watercolor!) and her “something blues” — from the cake to Scott’s suit to Scarlet’s nails. And can we talk about that killer Alta Moda Bridal gown with peachy undertones? What a perfect complement to Scarlet’s wild and wondrous red hair. It may have rained on their wedding day, but nothing could put a damper on those stunning smiles and lovely love.

On a beautiful spring day in May, Madeline and Cameron wed with sentiment and style. After a ceremony at the Provo City Center LDS Temple, they made their way to Midway for a dinner and reception at the unforgettable River Bottoms Ranch.

Surrounded by impeccable florals from Bushel And A Peck Floral, guests dined, celebrated, and delighted in lawn games on River Bottoms Ranch‘s exquisite property. The cake from Flour & Flourish was a delicious vision (those sugar flowers get us every time). And planner Fuse Weddings and Events perfectly executed every detail.

Madeline was a dream in her gown from The Perfect Dress (that fabric is heaven), and Cameron looked sharp in his suit and burnt orange tie. These two are bursting with happiness in every image.

And speaking of images, every last frame from Jordy B. Photography is a wonder. It’s moment after moment of beauty and dearly-beloved joy.

Oh, and did we mention they ended the day with fireworks? This wedding is magic, we tell you. Magic.

Happy wedding, Madeline and Cameron! And happy scrolling, friends.

Elssie + Ryan

It’s Magazine Monday! And today we have a closer look at the gorgeous wedding of this gorgeous couple, Elssie Choque and Ryan Lewis — straight from our glossy pages

My husband Ryan and I met in Park City at the Sundance Film Festival, and we dated long distance while I was working in L.A. in film production. After dating for a year, Ryan proposed to me at the Utah State Capitol. I was out with my family and my sister suggested we stop by the capitol to take a family picture. It was late, so I thought this idea was strange, especially when she had me get out of the car and drove off! Then I saw candles and rose petals leading up the steps to where Ryan was all dressed up waiting with flowers and a ring.

I planned my entire wedding from start to finish with my Mom, Elsa. I couldn’t have done it without her.

Our wedding day started with the sealing at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Then we had a ring ceremony and reception at La Caille. I chose La Caille because I grew up going there. I love the peacocks roaming the grounds and the way it transports you to a French chateau as you wind up the driveway.

My gown was another unique part of my wedding. I loved the silhouette and the long detachable train. My mom made my veil and we wanted it to match the length of the train, so it’s 16 feet long! Managing the veil and train was a challenge. At one point after the temple ceremony, I had to run across South Temple to get into my sister’s car, and I was holding the entirety of my train in my arms. I looked so ridiculous my brother-in-law filmed it.

My family is so important to me and they were a huge part of the day. My brother officiated the ring ceremony, and my nieces and nephews were ring bearers and flower girls. I’m the youngest of five, and it meant so much to have all of my sisters, brothers and in-laws part of the day with us.

PICTURE PERFECT Elssie’s most treasured vendors were her photographer, Alixann Loosle, and her florist, Every Blooming Thing. They created the crazy beautiful floral arch that served as the backdrop for the ring ceremony and grew anemone flowers for Elssie because they were out of season on her wedding day. Another one of the most raved about elements of the couple’s wedding was the cuisine by La Caille — particularly the decadent flourless chocolate cakes and the charcuterie board.

Savanah + Nathan

It’s Magazine Monday! And we’re excited to share a closer look at the wedding of Savanah and Nathan — straight from our glossy pages.

Nathan and I were set up on a blind date. I thought he was cute, fun and smart. We started dating, and one of my favorite dates was when we went country dancing. Nathan loves to dance, but dancing is NOT my thing. I was so nervous, but he made me feel so comfortable that I actually danced!

One of our first official dates as a couple was to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert. Two years later, after some off-and-on dating, he took me to the concert again. Before, he took me to the steps of the Utah State Capitol Building and popped the question with a darling vintage pearl ring. Later, we picked out a diamond engagement ring, but it was so special to me that he proposed with the vintage ring. I fell in love with it at Heirloom Art & Co. when I worked there.

My mom was a huge part of my wedding planning. I told her my vision and she ran with it. We chose the White Shanty in Provo as our venue and I loved how cozy it felt and how light it was.

My dress from Pritchétt Bridal has this cool lace that actually looks like beading. I loved it because it has the glam of beads but the comfort of lace.

For my flowers, my mom recruited two of her best friends from high school, and they did an amazing job. They incorporated fruits like oranges, red pears, and kumquats into all the florals. I loved the way we covered everything with flowers and greenery — even the venue’s chandelier.

I loved working with my photographer Alyssia Baird. She was amazing and made Nathan and me feel so comfortable.

I am from Alpine and Nathan is from Huntington Beach; one of my favorite parts of the day was the reception because it was amazing to see all the people who came out to support us. I felt so loved.

PICTURE PERFECT Savanah took every opportunity to infuse her wedding day with lush greenery and bursts of brilliant color. From the ribbons on the bridesmaid bouquets to the cute and colorful couches to the hoops, chandelier, and LOVE sign, every detail was darling and divine. The couple’s first dance was “Nothing Can Change This Love” by Sam Cooke, while Oteo gave guests something to taco-bout.

April + John

Until death do they part, indeed.

With Sundance Resort as a backdrop, April and John had the wedding of their gothic dreams on October 13. Freaky cool, right?

“As a wedding designer, when a bride contacts you and says, ‘I am pretty non-traditional,’ I get excited,” says Tressa Roberts of Cultivated Events Co. “Although, truthfully, I was expecting non-traditional to be a non-blush wedding — not a skull-centric gothic wedding! But I was here for it!”

A gothic wedding in October is fitting, but April would have done this same wedding any time of year. Her last name is Slaughter. She is the owner of Slaughter Skulls where she makes art with human skull replicas. She is a paranormal researcher and author, and she holds charity ghost hunts. Groom John is also a fan of all things gothic and skull. This wedding perfectly showcased their personal taste and personalities.

The bride wore her grandmother’s 70-year-old ivory silk wedding gown, with a stunning black lace overlay custom made by Rachel Elizabeth Bridal. While the groom’s custom suit was made by the renowned Manuel Couture, a Nashville-based custom suit be-jeweler to the country stars.

They both love Sundance Resort, and it’s where John proposed, so naturally they chose it as their venue. It was the perfect backdrop for their dark and moody ceremony and reception.

“In the Rehearsal Hall, we kept the lighting low, but added some chandeliers for some low ambient light and lots of candles for a candlelit dinner atmosphere,” Tressa says. “Every detail was well thought out, from the lace skull laser cut on the invitations (which the talented Made by Jen then drew on the welcome sign) to the skull ice cubes. And it was all perfectly captured by Coverstone Creative.”

Florists Alli and Aubree from Intertwined Floral designed the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements. April and John didn’t want a lot of flowers, so the guest tables were kept fairly simple with red roses — with thorns ON, of course — and black twigs. With the black lace overlay over an ivory tablecloth, it was the perfect balance of spooky and beautiful.

The cake is a masterpiece by Bake Me a Kake . There are skulls intermixed in the fondant flowers, black “lace” draped on the tiers, and hand-sculpted “bride and groom skulls” on the top of the cake. It’s truly a work of art.

Happy halloween week, everyone! Get yourself in the mood by scrolling through this stunningly spooky soiree — starting with their bridal session in a graveyard.

Jamie and Trevor’s fall celebration is full of decadent details and unforgettable moments — much like their courtship.

The couple met in junior high and were quick friends — not dating right away but always staying friendly and social. They both went to their first formal high school dance together as sophomores at Springville High School. They started dating a month before graduation in May 2015, and they haven’t left each other’s side since.

Jamie and Trevor have so much in common: the outdoors, hunting, time with family, and, of course, their dogs!

For their wedding at Quiet Meadow Farm, the decor was charming, rustic, and radiant. Jamie’s bouquet was a personalized beauty — with macrame and pheasant feathers hanging from the show-stopping stems. And the entire wedding — from the ceremony to the dinner to the dance party — was a joyous and sweet celebration.

It’s Magazine Monday — and our very first one of the 2020 print issue! We are beyond excited to share a closer look at the real wedding of Madilyn and Ethan, straight from our glossy pages. And remember! You can purchase a copy of the new issue at this pretty link.

MADILYN ROBISON + ETHAN HANSEN // AUG. 1, 2019

The stars aligned when Madilyn Robison and Ethan Hansen met in an apartment complex hot tub. “Real romantic, right?!” Madilyn jokes. But in all seriousness, this stunning couple’s love story was written in the stars. “He’s the best man I’ve ever come across, and I’m so glad I met him in a too-crowded hot tub on a Tuesday night,” Madilyn says.

When it came time to propose, Ethan kept Madilyn guessing. For weeks he took her on the craziest dates to throw her off, and then he finally proposed after the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival.

Madilyn began planning a starry night to remember. She had a neon “Over The Moon” sign shipped from Australia that set the tone for the entire event.

The couple’s big day started with the ceremony at the Salt Lake LDS Temple, followed by a luncheon at Caffe Molise. Then it was time to party at the reception. The night ended with a splash! “For a moment I didn’t want to jump in the pool and ruin my hair and makeup,” Madilyn says. “But it felt so good to let loose and laugh with my friends and family. I would definitely ruin any fancy getup for a moment like that again.”

Picture This Madilyn and Ethan both grew up in Utah and loved hosting their friends and family in a cozy, chic setting. The show-stopping pampas grass chandelier added warmth to their whimsical stars-and-moon theme. “I have gotten more compliments about the pampas grass than I can even begin to explain!” Madilyn says. She got the idea on Pinterest and her talented florist, Sarah Asay of Blushing Rose Floral, brought it to life.

Dream Scene The elevator at Caffé Molise made for a perfect little photo op with their incredible photographer, In Frames Photography. “I love those photos because they are so vintage and romantic,” Madilyn says. “And my hair looks bomb!” Speaking of romantic, can we talk about Madilyn’s silky little number from Alta Moda Bridal? The ever-so-slight puff sleeve and that like-a-glove fit is what dress dreams are made of. FUN FACT: The gown by Jen Jackson Designs was customized for Madilyn. The designer loved the updated version so much she added it to her collection and calls it Robi (after Madilyn’s maiden name Robison). Pillow seating and tables from Utah Vintage Rentals made for a fun, unique touch as guests dined on chicken tacos. The night ended with a splash as the bridal party and balloons landed in the pool.
